Update (As of February 9, 2012)

Hi everyone! Things have been a wee bit hectic with prelims coming soon. I've read loads of books meanwhile, and hope to post more reviews soon rather than leaving them in Draftsland. Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Authors/publicists: I'm currently not accepting any review requests as stated in the updated policy, but I do so appreciate that you consider this blog a worthy avenue for your books.

The Last Song

on Saturday, 6 March 2010

When I heard that Nicholas Sparks was approached to write both the film's screenplay and the novel for The Last Song, and that the movie was to star Miley Cyrus and bring her out of her Hannah Montana persona, I was intrigued.

Firstly because I'm a huge fan of Miley Cyrus, and the theme song When I Look At You was beautiful, and I think the movie would be beautifully sad as well. Second because it was Nicholas Sparks, and the book and movie would 1) be very sad, 2) have a happy and unhappy ending at the same time, 3) it is vastly different from Hannah Montana. Thirdly because I have never heard of a situation where Disney deliberately approached a well known author to commission a book and movie to launch one of its stars out of teendom to the general audience, and the author accepted.

I'm going to get this book soon. I've never read any Nicholas Sparks books because I'm afraid of sad stories, but I hate watching movies before reading the books first, so it's quite a dilemma I'm in here. Since it's a Disney/Miley/Nicholas Sparks mix however, I'm up for it.

Anyone read it yet? What's your opinion?

My friend squeals like a sissy at the mere mention of the title. I have yet to read it though...

I've never read it. I'm not sure I want to. NS always breaks my heart. I'll definitely catch the movie on video.

Follow up from my friend.. her exact words:

"It's the most awesome-mest book ever! In the middle of the book, you'll cry like a baby.
The relationship between the father and the daughter is touching. It's not the most perfect but they show how much they love each other."

I do love reading Nicholas Sparks book even though he tend to get too sappy sometimes. Perhaps half dose of sappiness once in awhile is not really too bad *lol* I'm sure I'll read this one sooner or later.

Btw, I have an award for you on my blog. Just click here to claim it!
