LiyanaLand: Doctor Who S05E03: Victory to the Daleks

This episode felt like a filler episode. Being a newcomer to the whole Doctor Who enterprise, I expected to be wholly awed by this episode, what with the Doctor meeting his archenemies The Daleks in his newest reincarnation. I was disappointed.

Sure, I couldn't expect every episode to be awesome in the true sense of the word, but I expected more danger, more tension. In formulaic form, shouldn't it be more like:

The Doctor + Daleks = Major boom + satisfying resolution with exciting strings attached

instead of:

The Doctor + Dalek = minor fizzles + unsatisfying resolution

The storyline wasn't bad. The Daleks were just so sinisterly innocent. It's always those quiet, submissive ones you have to watch out for, right? Brr. Their new reincarnation was very unthreatening though. Dalek Skittles, anyone? Bwahahaha. The scene where Amy talks the scientist into remembering his humanity by remembering him fancying "someone he shouldn't" and then sneaking a look at The Doctor was just cruel.

It gives me hope for a romantic relationship between the Doctor and his companion Amy Pond, but according to some of the people who've kept up with the series, it's very unlikely. Curses! I bet Amy would get with Rory, hmmph. There goes my wish for possible half Time Lord, half Amy babies.

This Doctor just seems a lot oblivious, or uncaring in the romantic sense, and he's just gonna make Amy Pond wait. Again. *bawls in the face of shipper doom* Come on producers, writers of Doctor Who. You say you're changing things a bit, why not change it a lot?

Of course, if such a thing ever happens, it would likely put a stop to the whole new Doctor new Companion plot in future Doctor Who reincarnations. Hmmm. Is it even possible for these two alien races to get together? Any thoughts?

I've come to enjoy Doctor Who a lot since I started watching it a few weeks ago, and it's already one of my favourite shows to watch, along with Chuck, Merlin, Legend of The Seeker and Bones. Whatever happens, or doesn't happen with Amy and the Doctor, I know I'll still anticipate and tune in to the series.
