My favorite SRB character is Jamie, because he isn't physically imposing but he's still dangerous.

For the other contest, does a pic with the ARC count, or does it have to be a final copy?
Oh my goodness! Favorite character! What a question! This is so difficult, as I have to fight the urge to just scream "everyone!" I love her characters. Actually, love is probably an understatement. Hmmmm, let's see...
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to pick Jamie. I love his near-constant sense of humor, something that I think weirded me out a bit at first but that I grew to love more and more until I couldn't get enough of it, and I have to resist the urge to quote him constantly. He's hilarious and sassy with just the right amount of wit and I love it. In my mind, Jamie is the king of jokes. Ask me who the funniest character I know is, and I'd pick him without a second thought. But I admire Jamie for other reasons too. He's a sensitive, feeling person, but he isn't weak. He doesn't like conflict, he doesn't want anyone to be hurt, he puts other people first most of the time, believes other people are better and more important than him, but he's still not afraid to stand for what he believes in; he has a sense of pride, and I appreciate that. He has strength. I think he makes a great hero for people like me, who are shy and cowardly and fade into the background most of the time. I relate to him a lot - sometimes so much it breaks my heart. It helps that he's really close to his sister Mae, just like I'm super close to my brother. We share that "us against the world" mentality, and I simply adore sibling bonds, so their relationship being featured so strongly in the books made me incredibly happy. Jamie makes me happy! Really happy. That's why I had to choose him.
But I have to mention Nick, who I also relate to immensely (not sure what that says about me, but hey, it's true!), and Mae, who I love sooooo much and who I would always say is my most favorite heroine, and definitely one of my most favorite narrators, and lovely Alan and lovely Sin and oh so lovely Matthias (yes, I even love the side characters who don't get that much page time!) and, well, this is ridiculous, but I could on! I won't though, as this is long enough already! I, uh...hope it's not /too/ long. I felt like writing an essay, I guess! I feel like these characters deserve it. :)

LOL don't think I'm a freak, but I totally adored Nick from The Demon's Lexicon. He's so weird. and his natural need to kill things? so sexy.
ReplyDelete+1 I follow via GFC with the name Megan
I'm going to be the first person to put my vote down for Sin as favorite character, I love the relationship she has with her siblings and the way she fights to get what she wants (and that her ambition isn't treated as a bad thing!) She and Alan are the cutest couple of clever, manipulative liars, and I always hope they end up travelling the English countryside fighting demons and pulling cons on unsuspecting locals.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite character was always Alan, because he worked in bookshops and was a lying liar who lied because he loved his brother, even if he didn't always know that Nick loved him back (or had any real emotions about his existence at all), and was supremely badass. Which isn't to say that Mae and Nick and Jamie and Sin aren't some of my favourite characters in anything ever, because they are.
ReplyDelete(Though, oh my god, the money I would pay to read about Sin and Alan travelling the countryside fighting demons and pulling cons on unsuspecting locals. THE FIRSTBORN CHILDREN I WOULD OFFER.)
And I'd put in a word for Christian from the short stories Undead Is Very Hot Right Now and Let's Get This Undead Show On The Road, because he's awesome. (It also may or may not be the case that I am no longer able to tell people to get a show on the road, as I am compelled to specify that it is an undead show.)
... And now I have to add Kami and Angela and Jared to my list of favorite SRB characters, because they are so fantastic.

Hey Ariel! Congrats, you won the contest! Reply with your mailing address to liyanaland@gmail.com within two days. :)
DeleteFor the first contest - Kit! Kit is my favorite character, despite the fact that it's a hard choice since all of hers are awesome. He has a really good heart, and his sense of humor is delightfully bad. By living with the vampires and not being exposed to the human world, he's still full of wonder about everything. But he also has an open mind to people from all walks of life, given his own background and his vampire shade family. Not to mention that he is honest (he did call!) and loyal.

DeleteI.. I have not read a book by her yet o.O So I do not have a favorite character yet.. hoping I can still enter <3 cause I am planning on reading this book, so I will be getting a favorite character soon :D Hih :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this giveaway. <3 +1 GFC as Carina Olsen
Love, Carina
I loved Alan as a character, as a physically weak character (due to his leg and compared to Nick) who basically protects everyone else. And, duh, his relationship with Nick is totally amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have not read a book by SRB... >.<
ReplyDeleteBUT I hope to remedy that! I've seen the Demon Lexicon books in the library...and I also have a feeling Kami Glass will become a favorite.

OMG OMG OMG. I am the biggest Sarah Rees Brennan EVER. Her works are not published in my country so I went ahed and, talking to her first, I proposed a sample translation of Demon's Lexicon to publishers, in hope they decide to publish it. I hope that sooner or later they'll see how great she is. I feel she deserves so much more.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite character is Alan from her previous trilogy. I love big brothers, always have, and he can be so cruel and so caring at the same time that he broke my heart. I'm reading Unspoken right now and I have a feeling that I'm going to love some characters, even if in a totally different way
